How Can Summer Hot Weather Quotes Inspire Us To Enjoy The Season?

Whew! Baby, it’s HOT outside!

Why do we love the idea of summer so much? Is it the long days, the warmer weather, the summer nights, or the chance to get out and enjoy nature or find some simple and productive things to do over the summer?

For some, summer is a time to relax and recharge. But for others, summer can be a challenge. The heat can be overwhelming, making it difficult to enjoy the season.

If you’re struggling to enjoy summer because of the heat, you’re not alone. I’m sitting right there next to you… but not too close. Gotta leave space for any hint of breeze to circulate, right?

These quotes can help to remind us that despite the challenges, the lovely hot summer can be a special time of year. So whether you’re looking for a laugh or a little motivation to keep going, these hot summer quotes can help us to appreciate the season even when the heat kicks in.

The next time you’re feeling a bit grumpy about the heat, grab a cold drink, put your hair up, and read these reminders that summer is a special time to be enjoyed.

Or… keep them handy to read during the depths of winter when the snow is flying and it’s so cold that you can’t even breathe when you go outside. They’ll help you remember the good and the not-so-great about those hot summer days.

Best Quotes About Summer Heat

As the weather starts to heat up, it can be hard to get out and enjoy summer. But a little inspiration from summer heat quotes just might help us get into the right frame of mind.

Or not. I also fully support the option of being an indoorsy person. LOL

“… the first week of August is motionless, and hot. It is curiously silent, too, with blank white dawns and glaring noons, and sunsets smeared with too much color. Often at night there is lightning, but it quivers all alone. There is no thunder, no relieving rain. These are strange and breathless days, the dog days, when people are led to do things they are sure to be sorry for after.”
— Natalie Babbitt, Tuck Everlasting

Allie Ray hot and miserable July summer quote in black text on image of woman standing in blue water.

“Then came July like three o’clock in the afternoon, hot and listless and miserable.”
— Allie Ray, Holler

“The summer sun welcomes me out
to sandy beaches with palm trees.
I am lulled by caressing rays
as warm as heavy, denim quilts.
The heat melts away distresses
from my muscles, from my thinking.
Entranced and contented, I bask
in the careless arms of sunshine.”
— Richelle E. Goodrich, Being Bold: Quotes, Poetry, & Motivations for Every Day of the Year

“I love how summer just wraps its arms around you like a warm blanket.”
— Kellie Elmore, Magic in the Backyard

Iced coffee on a hot day quote in bold brown text on background of iced coffee in glass mugs on gray counter.

“Iced coffee on a hot day can perform miracles.”

“The thing with heat is, no matter how cold you are, no matter how much you need warmth, it always, eventually, becomes too much.”
— Victoria Aveyard, Glass Sword

“More murders are committed at ninety-two degrees Fahrenheit than any other temperature. Over one hundred — it’s too hot to move. Under ninety, cool enough to survive. But right at ninety-two degrees lies the apex of irritability, everything is itches and hair and sweat and cooked pork. The brain becomes a rat rushing around a red-hot maze. The least thing — a word, a look, a sound, the drop of a hair and — irritable murder. Irritable murder, there’s a pretty and terrifying phrase for you.”
— Ray Bradbury, Touched With Fire (from The October Country)

“What grows best in the heat: fantasy, unreason, lust.”
— Salman Rushdie

Jane Austen dreadful hot weather quote in black text on faded background of woman sitting under waterfall.

“What dreadful hot weather we have! It keeps one in a continual state of inelegance.”
— Jane Austen

“August in Mississippi is different from July. As to heat, it is not a question of degree but of kind. July heat is furious, but in August the heat has killed even itself and lies dead over us.”
— Elizabeth Spencer, Fire in the Morning

“The morning heat had already soaked through the walls, rising up from the floor like a ghost of summers past.”
— Erik Tomblin, Riverside Blues

“Let a man walk ten miles steadily on a hot summer’s day along a dusty English road, and he will soon discover why beer was invented.”
— Gilbert K. Chesterton

Terri Guillemets summer-nap under the hot shade of July poem quote in black text on green and cream mottled background.

“I drifted into a summer-nap
under the hot shade of July
serenaded by a cicadae lullaby
to drowsy-warm dreams
of distant thunder…”

brings it forth, soon slays with parching power.”
— Dante Alighieri

Simple Ideas And Resources To Make the Best of Long Hot Summer Days

Enjoying summer — even in the heat — is of course partially attitude and partially what we actually DO to make things easier and more fun. I’m always wondering how I can beat the heat, and here are some of the ideas that make the top of the list.

When the temperature is soaring, I love finding a cool spot and getting lost in a book. It really helps take my mind off the heat.

I like to keep note of great book ideas for a simple summer reading list. Plus, having a Kindle Unlimited subscription and trying a free Audible trial membership means NEVER running out of great books or ways to read.

And don’t forget to track your reading with this amazing digital reading journal.

But reading isn’t a solution on its own. Staying cool can be tough. Running an air conditioner definitely helps, but it isn’t possible for everyone. Try this neck gel ice pack for some relief.

Or, if you can’t stand anything on your neck, try the old-school cooling hack of placing a bucket of ice in front of a fan. Throw on your ‘I don’t sweat I sparkle’ tank top and you’re all set for a session of coolness.

Drink plenty of icy-cold beverages and cook on an outdoor grill or in the microwave as much as possible. Countertop ice machines seem to be all the rage during the hot summer weather, and for good reason!

Concluding Thoughts…

As the summer heat ramps up, it’s important to remember that there’s something magical about a hot summer day.

The smell of BBQs, the sound of waves crashing on the shore — or water splashing in the kiddie pool where you’re cooling your feet — and time spent with friends and family can all make for some unforgettable memories.

So the next time you’re feeling the heat, take a moment to appreciate it with the inspiration of one of these summer heat quotes. And then go pour yourself a cold glass of your favorite summer beverage.

You’ve got this!
