How to Use the February Declutter Calendar

This 28-day declutter calendar uses simple, actionable tasks to make organizing and decluttering your house as stress-free as possible. Here’s how to get started:

  1. Download the free printable declutter calendar. It’s your roadmap for the month, and you can even hang it on your fridge or workspace to stay on track.
  2. Set a timer. Spend about 10 minutes on each task. The goal is progress, not perfection – so it’s okay if you don’t COMPLETELY finish every task on the list.
  3. Adapt as needed. Feel free to tackle tasks in a different order or adjust the amount of time you work if it makes more sense for your schedule or your home.
  4. Celebrate small wins. Every drawer cleaned out or small space organized is a step toward a clutter-free home.

The short days and chilly weather give you the perfect excuse to stay indoors and tackle those cluttered areas you’ve been avoiding. Plus, by the time spring rolls around, you’ll already have a head start on creating a tidy, organized home.

Now, let’s get to the fun part: your daily decluttering tasks for February!

February Daily Decluttering Tasks

A cozy, neutral-toned living room with a white sofa, a plaid pillow, and a knitted throw blanket. On a coffee table, there is a folded cream-colored textured blanket and a cup of coffee. In the foreground, two printed pages labeled ‘February Decluttering’ display a daily February declutter calendar.

Remember, the idea is to spend about 10 minutes on this each day. You COULD spend longer, but try not to do that too often — this declutter challenge is supposed to be simple, not overwhelming. Just keep things chill and ‘good enough.’ This is exactly how I decluttered my home.

Week 1: Cozy Living Spaces

Focus on making your living areas feel lighter and more inviting.

Day 1: Sort decorative pillows and blankets – Keep only what you actually use and love.

Tip: If you find yourself constantly moving, rearranging, or tidying your decorative pillows, try storing them away for a month and see whether or not you actually miss them.

Day 2: Declutter coffee table or side tables – Toss old magazines and anything that doesn’t belong or makes cleaning more difficult.

Day 3: Edit candles and wax melts – Keep only scents you truly enjoy.

Day 4: Update framed photos and wall art – Refresh your space by swapping out pictures or art that no longer feel meaningful to you. Perhaps hang some pieces on the wall to get them off tables and shelves and make cleaning easier.

Day 5: Organize your reading nook – Edit your TBR (to be read) pile and anything that makes this area feel cluttered instead of cozy.

Day 6: Sort through board games and puzzles – Toss incomplete sets or donate ones your family doesn’t enjoy.

Day 7: 10-minute declutter – Scan your living spaces for clutter and tidy up any overlooked spots.

Week 2: Wardrobe and Personal Essentials

Focus on simplifying your daily routine by decluttering clothes and accessories.

Day 8: Sort your socks – Discard mismatched, worn-out pairs.

Day 9: Purge your pajamas – Keep only the comfortable and functional ones.

Day 10: Organize your jewelry – Toss broken pieces; donate what you don’t wear.

Day 11: Edit your scent collection – Keep only the perfumes or colognes you truly enjoy wearing. This task includes things like scented lotions.

Day 12: Declutter workout clothes – Discard worn-out or ill-fitting pieces.

Day 13: Declutter makeup, brushes, and tools – Toss broken, old (especially if you can’t really get them clean), or unused items.

Day 14: 10-minute declutter – Go through one more drawer or closet shelf that needs attention.

Week 3: Home Organization and Productivity

Focus on tidying spaces that help you stay organized and productive.

Day 15: Purge your mugs – Keep your favorites (perhaps just ONE for each person?); donate extras.

Day 16: Edit your food storage containers – Discard damaged, lidless, or warped pieces, along with lids that don’t fit any of your containers.

Tip: Repurpose stained or lidless shallow containers as drawer organizers or small item containers IF you have a specific need for that type of storage. If not, don’t keep them ‘just in case’ – recycle or toss them.

Day 17: Declutter your planner or calendar system – Toss outdated inserts and organize current ones.

Day 18: Declutter your pens, markers, and office supplies – Test everything and toss what doesn’t work or you never use. I just had to do that with a set of fine-tip markers that I bought on a whim and haven’t used once in the two years since I got them.

Day 19: Organize your notebooks and journals – Recycle or shred ones you no longer need or want.

Day 20: Declutter your bookshelves – Donate books you’ve finished, don’t love, and/or know you won’t read.

Day 21: 10-minute declutter – Tidy up your workspace and remove unnecessary clutter.

Week 4: Miscellaneous and Final Touches

Finish strong with overlooked areas and a final home sweep!

Day 22: Go through your wallet or purse – Remove old receipts, expired cards and medicines, trash, and anything that doesn’t belong.

Day 23: Declutter your vehicle – If you’re storing donations in there, take some time to drop them off right now or the next time you’re out and about. Also, do a quick cleaning if you have time.

Tip: Keep a trash container (like this folding trash bin) in your vehicle and a stash of plastic shopping bags that you can use for quick clean-ups. If you live in an area that doesn’t freeze, it may also be a good idea to keep a container of cleaning wipes handy.

Day 24: Declutter your pet supplies – Toss old toys, clean gear, update meds, and organize food. I love these rolling bins for dry cat food or dog food.

Day 25: Declutter your lightbulb stash – Recycle burned-out bulbs and extras that don’t work with your current fixtures.

Day 26: Tidy up the bathroom counter and drawers – Remove random items that don’t belong. If you have more than one bathroom, do the one that bothers you the most.

Day 27: Declutter your travel bags or luggage – Remove old baggage tags, repair or discard items with broken zippers, and donate any suitcases or bags you no longer use.

Day 28: Final 10-minute home sweep – Pick any lingering clutter spots and tidy up!

Why February Decluttering Can Work Wonders for Your Life

Decluttering isn’t just about cleaning your home — it’s about creating a space that supports your well-being and allows you to thrive. Here’s how this decluttering calendar can make a difference:

  • Feel lighter and more focused. Clearing physical clutter reduces mental clutter, too.
  • Improve your productivity. A tidy space makes it easier to concentrate on your goals.
  • Boost your mood. There’s something deeply satisfying about getting rid of stuff you don’t need.
  • Create room for what matters. Decluttering helps you make space for the things, activities, and people you love.

Years ago, I used to get overwhelmed just looking at the clutter piling up everywhere. Starting with slow decluttering and decluttering in layers helped me gain momentum, and soon, I felt like I could breathe again.
